Please help!!! I need my BB back :(
Please Login to Remove!
ok guys... ive been at this for about 5 hours and am about to pass out. ive read through all the posts to try and work it out and nothing has fixed this. i dont even know if im doing this the right way... but im hoping someone can help me finally get an answer.
i was trying to upgrade the os on my 8310 to 4.5. I was almost through with it when the white screen went on my bb with "app error 523" so the instructions said to reconnect to desktop manager and hit application loader and it will continue downloading. And yes, i had deleted the vendor.xml file after i downloaded and installed the new os to my pc.
well, my DM was not able to connect to my bb. ive tried everything i read in the posts which included plugging my bb in, then taking the battery out. taking the memory card out. whatever i found. so it's not connecting.
So i started reading about wiping the handheld. It took me forever to get jl_cmder working but it's not connecting to my device either. ive tried several times (as the instructions told me to) but it hasn't wiped out the handheld.
then i followed the post "what to do next if jl_cmder will not connect and wipe" and it gave me instructions on working with command prompts. but i cant seem to get the command prompts to work either. im probably not typing it in right because im not familiar with command prompts, but im typing it the way the post is telling me to.. and it's still telling me invalid prompt.
I have the current DM and OS both installed on my pc... my bb has been stuck on the white screen for the past 5 hours and im freaking out. my eyes are killing me from trying to switch to different posts to figure this out. im hoping someone can pleassssssee help me with just wiping out this bb so it can connect to DM again and I can reinstall my backup.
pleeaseeeee. thank you so much guys ;(

Generally, app error 523 means there is an application, usually a 3rd party app, causing an issue with the OS. Most of the time one can remove the battery and reinsert and while the hourglass is spinning, plug in the bb and launch application loader. Then uncheck the suspected 3rd party apps. Have you tried this? If it still says app error 523 you can give this a shot.

my phone has never had that problem until i tried to do this os upgrade.
okay if i remove the battery while the hourglass is still spinning, the phone will shut off. but when it comes back on with the hourglass, i tried to plug it in.. but it still wont connect to DM.

Just plug it in and run application loader. It may or may not show up as connected in the main menu of desktop manager. However, it might connect when you run application loader.

yes thanks john. i read your last post for the jl_cmder... i got the program to start up.. but when i tried to wipe handheld.. it would go back to the main screen... as if its not connecting to my bb.
when i hit application loader... a box pops up telling me to connect to a device. i cant choose anything because its not reading a device.. so thats where it gets stuck.

Did you try the above procedure? Unplug the BB. Remove the battery. Reinsert battery. Let it boot for about 10 seconds. Then plug in and run Desktop Manager and open Application Loader. It should detect the BB and you can uncheck all 3rd party apps and themes. If it doesn't, try rebooting your computer and try it again. App Error 523 is recoverable.

i did try the above procedure.. thats all ive been doing actually. i will try to reboot my computer right now though.
i just feel like its unrecoverable because i was in the middle of installing a new os onto my bb when it just crashed. so i dont even know if anything will work unless i try to find a way to wipe it.
ok brb. rebooting computer

Are you plugged into a USB port directly on the computer? Not a hub of any kind?

If you can't connect then try JL_Cmder again...Make sure Desktop Manager is not running when you try it.

JC would it help if she ran AppLoader without running DM?
Could there be a corruption in the DM program?
