Tried on another computer with windows xp and same issue, I've updated the flip n the bold from same computer with no problems. I'm stuck, do you think I need a new mother board.
My speakerphone is extra sensitive since I have upgraded to this build... Its to the point that when I sit the phone on a table when using the speaker I get major feedback. The only way to fix it is to turn the speakerphone down but at the point I can't hear the caller.. Anyone else having this issue. Is this due to the new OS is something wrong with my phone?
Well I'm coming from an ooooolllddd 5.0 beta and I have to say this has been a horrible upgrade.
New problems:
Press shift+space to scroll up in browser, now you are selecting text even though you are no long pressing shift.
Standby/Lock buttons = really!? Why!?
Opera stopped working (could select anything) until I put a new version on, I used it as a backup browser/second window...
Old problems not addressed:
Clicking a textbox on a web page wrong ie click and move the ball a slight amount and when you press shift for a capital letter you are no longer typing text in the text box.
Weird text problems on beejive (not sure if this is beejives issue or an os issue, but I am leaning toward os) when you move the screen left with the trackball text can disapear and if you receive an IM all lines that were there literally disappear, pressing menu select text so it rerenders things and you can see what disappeared.
I'm sure there are more, I literally have yet to see something that has been improved...
Hi All,
Newbie here! Just got a 8900 and in Malaysia. Was reading everywhere on the OS upgrade but still not sure how to go about it. I got the latest 5.01 DM installed and when i connect my 8900 to my PC, in the DM i clicked application loader then, update software (start). Then I got this message "no software update is required for your device". My current version as found on the hardware is v4.6.1.250
Or it is i should download the OS v5.0.509 (which I am doing now frm the official blackberry website) and then delete the vendor.xml file located in c:program files>common files>research in motion>apploader. and do it via th the step by step guide in berryreview (ua\nable to post the link)
Just scroll to the top of this thread and follow the instructions EXACTLY in the first post of this thread. It's all right there. Don't use desktop manager.
Thanks John, updated and everything went smoothly. Just that now I cannot read any other language (like Chinese and Thai Character, which I can with the last version of OS). Just wondering how shall I go about it if I want to add in order for me to read these languages? after much reading, I think v5.0.509 does not support east asian languages.
In that case can i just go back to v4.xxxx. Do i just repeat the same, d/l the v.4xxxxx then double click and remove the vendor.xml file and double click on loader.exe?
