Trust me, I know. I totally understand it is wishful thinking. Here is my thoughts on Sprint:

Alltel SHOULD be getting the new 8703e sometime in November. THis is coming from the Alltel RIM rep! As usual, V will have isearlier - reportedly 8/28! It is the CDMA version of the 8700 that Cingular/TMobile have. I have one with Cingular and it is GREAT. The resolution/Features of the 7130e with the FULL keyboard of the 7250!!!!

BG...thanks for all of this news...it really keeps all of us BB fanatics going!
RIM should pay you a lot just to float this advance info out there...I'm sure it will only help generate buzz and increase sales...

So how much of a credibility hit are you willing to take if/when the 8703 is NOT on verizonwireless.com?

I never really said much about the 8703 homie...I also said I heard it was coming to Verizon soon, and that it was straight CDMA not CDMA/GSM hybrid...

I don't think that is going to be an issue. I had a Verizon 8703 in my hands yesterday. Its not if, just when its released.

BG,
When you get a chance try and find out if the 8200 will have a CDMA variant.

Hey Boygenius....
Thanks for all that you bring to the community. I love the sneak peaks, especially since I am looking to upgrade soon.
My question is; Do you know what networks this new Blackberry will run on, and/or which company will get it??? Is this asking too much??? Am I going to have people in dark coats knocking on my door??

Here is my question. Does it really matter about the radio code? Sure GSM is more widespread, but I am sure the CDMA radio code is very similar (if not, identical) in the 7250 and the newest phone. So with that being said, I don't understand the delay. Design a BB, Design an OS, then insert appropriate radio code (GSM, CDMA, iDEN, etc.). I understand there will be some differences with chips (concerning the radio portion), but wouldn't everything else be the same? I don't see why there is such a delay.

I have a good feeling that 8200 is going to Cingular first...it just makes sense. When BG originally posted the news about the 8100 phone on Engadget, it was slated for Cingular. I won't be surprised if RIM gave the 8100 option to Cingular first for exclusive initial sales, but Cingular decided to give it up for the exclusive to an upcoming 8200. Just my .02

For what it's worth...
I am currently in possession of a Verizon 8703e. I'd love to tell you how it performs but the numbskulls at Verizon (who sent it to me in the first place) can't seem to provision the darn thing. Only the phone is active.
One the bright side it makes a nifty paperweight.

And Sprint will be 5 years after that.
Hell, Sprint is still advertising the NEW 7100 BLACKBERRY. They should be ashamed.

Ok, I need some help. I am uneducated when it comes to WiFi, what benefit does it offer to the BB when it already has a browser?
Thanks for any assistance

What does having a browser have to do with WiFi?
Wireless networks are a heck of a lot faster than EDGE or other any other cellular-based data service. Not to mention that sometimes we are inside buildings where there is little or no cell coverage, so being able to switch over to a wifi network would be a huge plus.

LOL, yes, the code is trivial, relatively speaking, as it can be migrated from earlier devices. As you note, its totally different radio hardware (chips) for the different versions. So, design a different version, with a new circuit board, build prototypes, test it, submit it to the FCC and other regulatory bodies and wait for approval (probably the longest part of the process) put it into production and get it to market - that's all there is to it! Oh - don't forget the step of getting a CDMA carrier to commit in advance to buy enough volume to make it worthwhile in the first place! The delay *might* be more from the carrier than from RIM. Build a GSM version, sell it to dozens of carriers worldwide. Build a CDMA or iDen unit and sell it to one or two carriers.
