I downloaded and upgraded my OS to 4.6.0.167 at the weekend and everything is working ok, apart from I can't get Vodafone Live to work. It was working ok before the upgrade.
All other websites work ok, but after trying to access the Vodafone Live homepage, it then stops me accessing any other websites and I have to switch the Bold off, take the battery out and switch the Bold back on again.
Help please!!
Would it help if I re-installed Vodafone Live again, and if so, how do I go about that?

This may be a dumb question....but do you have to have the 4.6 Multi-language Desktop Manager to install the New Multi-Language OS? I have not received my bold yet, but am planning on starting from scratch with the new Desktop Manager and intalling the new OS (if not up to date) once I get it next week.

This is the second upgraded OS I installed on this device. the first upgrade didn't seem to cause this issue. It wasn't until I upgraded to this OS that it occured. Again, not saying this version caused the issue. I have not tried to downgrade, but I have tried reloading the 298/167 OS several times with the same outcome.
The above link has a "workaround" if the issue affects you.

I had something similar with a previous OS upgrade - it removed Texas Hold 'Em King 2 and it's never come back... and I have no idea how to get it back :(

Hey Jason, its a very bold (pardon the punn) statement to say this release is better than the other carrier builds. can you quantify that by saying why it is better?
I'm currently running 4.6.0.162.

I had the original Rogers OS when I went to Florida last week and could not run my Bold on the AT&T network in 3G for more than a minute without it spontaniously rebooting. I put it on 2G only and it worked fine on edge. I called Rogers and was told to load their latest OS 162. I never had any problems with the original Roger's OS while in Canada and was aware of the newer Rogers OS prior to leaving for the US but did not want to try anything new just before leaving the country. I have a fair number of 3rd party applications so I do not know if any of them could have caused the problem, but do not go the US without updating from the original Rogers OS! You may not want to have the same problems I had with the Bold being unworkable on 3G.
Given the mixed reviews of 167 I upgraded to 162 on my return, following the instructions at the top of this post. As noted I have a number of 3rd party programs, all loaded over the air and as well I am on BES. I had thought that I might have to reload the 3rd party programs and as well get reauthorized on the BES, but all my programs returned and the BES initialization (which involved a number of programs was done over the air and did take some time after restarting) all came back. The only minor difficulty was re-entering some pin numbers for some of the third party programs. A lot less painful than I had thought.
OS 162 has run without incident since loaded Monday. One benefit is that I have a lot more available memory than under the original Rogers OS. I will stick with 162 for now.

Press and hold the left shift button, then press and hold the ALT button, and finally press the H button. You can release the buttons at this point. You will see a help screen, and the third item in the list, App Version, is the version number you are looking for.

Serious Memory Leaks
Upgraded to .167 about a week ago and my Bold is sufferinf some serious memory leaks, I'll go from 32.1mb of free app memory, to about 12.4mb. Anyone having similiar issues? Should I downgrade or go to the beta?

I upgraded more than a week ago from the original Rogers OS which gave me no problems in Canada, but rendered 3G unusable on the ATT network, and decided to play it safe and go to .162. Memory fairly constant at 31.5MB with lots of third party apps installed. Much better memory available than under Roger's original OS. .162 may be optimized for the Rogers network so I don't know how it will work on T-Mobile, but I am having great memory management with next to no memory leak under .162.

When sync. my Bold with my PC the BB desktop showed an update of the OS for the Bold I had just purchased from Att. The software is the same version on the unit as on the BB desktop. Why would it show that an upgrade is available?
Anyone has seen this too?

i just upgraded my 8820 to 9000 bold on tuesday 11-4 (at&t's official launch date). i see under BlackBerry 9000 smartphone (3G, Wi-fi) the following:
v4.6.0.167 (platform 4.0.0.157)
not very tech savvy and can't tell if (1) i have the latest greatest OS as described in this thread, and (2), if not, whether it makes sense to get help upgrading or just leave alone for a while
any thoughts appreciated. thx

installed 167 and have noticed 2 big differences over 162:
1. much shorter battery life, will now just about last a day with a few application such as viigo running, 162 would last 2 days at least.
2. extraordinary radio performance, it can now receive a workable signal in the most amazing places including the bottom of the covent garden tube station lift shaft and at edgware road bakerloo station. both of these places are well below ground level and constructed of steel. i have never had a mobile that has worked in these places before.

That's the balance RIM or any other manufacturer has to strike between performance and battery life. Shame there's no user defined setting like on my Nokia N95 where you can change the transmission power between Auto or various values. Makes a huge difference.
