Default Cleaning screen after removing tape protector

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I used a regular clear tape instead of an actual screen protector, based on people's reviews about it on here and amazon.

Now that I took the tape off, the sight of my screen is obviously very smudgy and sticky to the touch due to the left over tape's residue.

How exactly to I get this residue off?

I was told alcohol, and tissue or cloth. Is this okay?

Thanks again and greatly appreciate it.

Try diluting the alcohol first with water and dabbing it on with a cloth, that should do the trick without the risk of burning the plastic.

Be very careful the mixture does not get anywhere near keys. You won't get a second chance.

Wow! I had never heard of using tape for a screen protector, either here or any where else. I don't think I would have tried it for fear of exactly what you are experiencing. Screen protectors are pretty cheap. Maybe more expensive than tape but much cheaper than ruining the phone.

Let us know how it turns out. I'm shuddering just imagining the mess you have on your hands. (and I think I'd try cloth instead of tissue or you may create a worse mess.)

Or even worse, leaving the tape on there for an extended period. Scotch tape has a nasty habit of trying to permanently adhere to whatever it's on. I would also have serious second thoughts if someone even suggested that to me.
