Can someone explain how this works? I've created a test BES 4.1 server and have put my BB on it. I followed the directions for setting up the logs and it CREATES the logs just fine, but nothing ever shows up in it. I've sent/received several PIN messages since setting it up and restarting the sync service but nothing.
Can someone give me details or point me to the document that actually has more information on this?
Once the policy is updated, it has to push back out to the handhelds and apply. At that point, they are in the Logs directory as CSV files. If you were smart and created a new policy rather than changing the Default policy, then you'll need to be sure to add users to it that you want to test with.

i believe once every 20 minutes during the reconciliation interval. deleting the messages from the handheld still nets the message being logged. i've also noticed that the messages are sometimes not logged by timestamp, thus being out of order (not a big deal since it can be formatted and sorted in Excel or the like).

That was it. Just needed to upgrade my HH software.
Unfortunately I'm a tad dissapointed in the logs. :( I was hoping it kept a record of all the body text in responses for SOX purposes but it appears to grab the original body text but all additional text in the responses to the original aren't stored. :(
Anyone know if this can be done? We basically need to be able to keep a record of ALL correspondence between devices and this comes close so that we can get rid of METAmessage which that's all we use it for.
hmm. that's odd. it kept track of all text for mine (trust me - had some interesting logs from my g/f in there ...heh). i'll turn it back on to verify, once again.
another thing is the absence of MMS logging.

My bad, you're right. Just gotta figure out some odd formatting bugs. Excel seems to want to treat carriage returns as comma's for some strange reason screwing with the formatting. :(

Just open it in wordpad then save then open in Excel.

Here's a quick screenshot (I blacked out personal info) to give you an idea of what I'm referring to. As you can see, The info starting on Line 14 should've been in column J (Where message body is but it's cut off in image) and so forth, but because of hte funky carriage returns being used (The look like squares in notepad), it seems to wig out Excel. :(
