Whats the difference between manually deleting the language files and just simply not checking them when you run application loader?

No difference really, just different ways of doing it. When you change OS you have to do it all over again, so his plugin just does it for you is all.

Options > Status.

You might want to spend sometime reading the FAQs, as well.

"Warning: BlackBerry.alx contains vendor IDs!
Warning: LBS.alx contains vendor IDs!
Warning: Platform.alx contains vendor IDs!"

The script looks for the OS install directory %CommonProgramFiles%\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files which expands to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files on most systems. Do you have such a directory?

Actually it's more of a notice than a warning. All it means, is that you won't be able to load all themes, but only the themes your carrier intended for you to have. For some carriers, this prevents you from using the BB Maps application as well.

You should see this thread for a list of modified .alx files for your specific OS. Be sure to match both the phone model and OS version.

Also, Platform.alx should not even have been on that list since it just controls PTT for AT&T customers and wouldn't work anyway if you're not with AT&T, so ignore any references to Platform.alx from my script after you apply the modified files in the thread I mentioned.

it would be great having a tool to let you graphically see what you've got and what you can remove.
any idea?

I think someone else mentioned this in a thread I've read, but I ran the script and manually deleted some themes. Then, after my blackberry reloaded, all of the preloaded pictures appeared to be there, but when I go to look at them, they show me a red X. Any ideas how to fix this? Or at least get them to not seem like they are on my blackberry. Thank for any help.

Cheers,

Athena

i have an 8830, and edited the .cmd file with notepad, but when i went to run it, it said that it could not find the RIM directory... could this be because I dont have admin rights on my pc?

I gave up on the new version of the script in favor of a GUI, which so far looks like this:

If anyone has ideas about what else to add, let me know.

Does anyone know if the .cod filenames for themes and other modules are the same for the 8300/8800? For example, the sample pictures on the Pearl are net_rim_bb_media_240x260_b.cod, but I suspect it's different because of the larger screen size.

Thats awesome. Only thing I see from the pic is maybe knowing what the check marks mean...when you check it are you keeping it or getting rid of it?

Does/can the script be used to remove the sample music file (MusicDemo.m4a) that came with the OS?

Smile languages support

Is possible to activate languages as Czech, Hungarian, Poland etc for BlackBerry OS?
I can see more languages in modues:
net_rim_bb_addressbook_simapp.cod
net_rim_bb_setupwizard.cod
net_rim_bb_camera.cod (please remove CameraShutter.mid)
net_rim_device_apps_games_brickbreaker.cod
Can I modify blackberry.alx to allow another language to use?:

<fileset Camera="True" langid="0x00xx"> ?
