Default 7130c Disassembly

Does anyone know how to take apart a 7130c? I've seen the 7130g disassembly instructions at blackberryfaq.com, and even though the g & the c seem very similar, I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the equivalent of the speaker grille off my c. Any advice / pointers? Thanks.

yah that part is really hard to take off, pretty much has to be pried open. i used tweezers to do it but scratched it a bit on the sides.

I have been unsuccessful in taking one apart. After removing the 2 screws, I was able to pry the plastic below the speaker loose but not completely off. I was only able to take out the keypad. The case is a bit scratched during the process.

There are two clips underneath the gray speaker cover that you have to depress in order to pull the speaker cover off. You'll have to be careful because using too much force will damage the plastic cover. I have been successful using paper clips.

Use your nails to pull the speaker cover slightly from the top. Insert a large paper clip to keep it open. Using either a flat head screwdriver or a small paper clip, look for two clips both on the left and right side. Depress them and pull the speaker cover from the top. The two remaining screws are underneath that gray plastic cover. You'll also need a flat head screwdriver to depress a clip that is keeping the front bezel attached to the back housing.

Those directions worked, ojai00! It took me a while to figure out the exact locations for those clips.

Glad to hear it worked! I had to sacrifice a non-working BB 7130c to find out the exact location. Needless to say I was a bit more careful with the one that I was replacing

Post More help !

OK,

I finally was able to get my case of. I have attached some pics to help you out and maybe you can learn from my mistakes.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a photographer nor a Photoshop expert - I am sure you will realize this when you see the pics!

I ended up breaking one of my tabs but since my housing was trashed anyway and I dismantled this so I could replace the broken housing that didn't matter to me. Sorry if yours gets damaged too.

This little top piece has 5 tabs aka: RIM's Revenge

Chances are you will try to slide a screwdriver under the little gaps on the left and right.... good luck. I recommend you ignore these, all you will do is scratch your housing. The top needs to be pressured and you have to get to the tabs from the other side where the Power and mute buttons are. Once you get them up watch out for the little tabs on the side as you pull it of, otherwise... SNAP!!

Once you have that speaker cover of the rest is straightforward after that as long as you have a T6 Torx Driver.

Good Luck and sorry about the quality of the pics.

Got the top part off .. no problemo, all I used were plastic pry bars that come with case kits (pry from the top wings only)
