has anyone else gotten this message after trying to login with the AIM app (downloaded from RIM) ?

haven't been able to get this to work, maybe i'm missing a service book or something....all else is configured right on the phone for use on Tmo....

Yup. You sure are missing the service book. Turns out that with an unlocked storm you have a choice...either the Browser or AIM. They use separate service books and neither service books contains information for both services.

Thank TMO for that :(

thanks very much....
could you give me a quick refresher on how to get them installed ? i noticed that you lost your browser (your post in the referenced thread) after you put these service books on...am i going to have to repeat the crackberry how-to for tmo service books after installing these ?

Sure...

First extract the file to your desktop.

In BBM, select backup/restore > Advanced

On the left side on top, select File > Open and select the service pack you extracted.

Its all, OK and ACCEPT, and APPLY from there....you know what I mean

i ran into the same problem you did...browser disappeared when i added the AIM service books from that thread.....

I had the same message when wanted to log in to Windows live Msgr, i had done everything to fix it, including deleting and re intalling service booking several times, so finally i called my provider, Bell, and the said it happened cause my rate plan didnt included windows live msgr, and then they changed the configuration in my plan and i had service 2 minutes later, I hope this help to you.

Yeah I hear ya. A good IM client thats free is instango. You have to make sure you set your "stay alive" settings correctly, or it will drain your batter while you sleep. Either that, or just make sure you log off.
