Question Using Blackberry as a modem

Please Login to Remove!

I am using my BB Curve 8900 (AT&T) as a modem. Created a network connection which dials *99#. THis is working OK. I have a couple of questions :
  1. IS this the same as Tethering?
  2. Is this approach dialing a number, in other words, does it count as a regular call against my minutes?
  3. If tethering is different, then, does tethering use the data capability (INternet connection) of my BB, and if so will the speeds be greater than the current connection which is 115Kbps?
PS : Attached is the PDF on howto configure and use BB as a modem via Dial-up.

Yes. It's exactly tethering.

No. Data is not transferred using voice minutes (why you have to have a data plan).

For tethering, do I necessary need to connect my BB using the USB cable? For Tethering, can I connect my laptop to the BB using Bluetooth?

Yes you can use Bluetooth! Just pair it with BlackBerry Device Manager and GO!
