Default OS: 8300 v4.5.0.108/4.5.0.81 (English + EastAsia languages)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8300 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.108 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.5.0.108
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.81
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.78
* File name: 8300EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel108_PL2.7.0.78_A4.5.0.81_ Voda_Australia.exe
* File size: 71.88MB

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...19656875EE557C

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

I found that the Doc2Go Free OTA upgrade I'd previously got wasn't migrated when I updated the OS. I had to download it again.

Ah! But there is an easy fix for that in upgrading.

Before upgrading, after installing the new OS, delete the "DocumentsToGo.alx" file from the OS install folder, located at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\**your OS name here

Then, the upgrade process will restore the DocumentsToGo on your device backup it makes during the install.

I know this may sound goofy...but if it's possible for a OS to "feel more solid," this version feels more solid than the last one I downloaded two days ago (4.5.0.69). Can't really put my finger on it...it just does. I don't do memory checking, or leak checking, I'm just talking about the responsiveness, etc.

Great upgrade so far, was running .55 before and had a memory leak, it seems to be fixed now, got a question about docs to go, i had 3 items when i first upgraded (4.5.37), sheets to go? well it's is missing when i upgaded to .55 i did'nt follow instructions on the docs to go (delete the"DocumentsToGo.alx" file) and i lost the sheets, when i put .81 on i tried the .axl file delete thing but it did'nt work, how do i get that 3rd app. back?

Open your DocumentsToGo and upgrade to the newer version (not the premium).

Thanks for the quick reply jsanders, but i don't see an option for upgrade, only check for updates and upgrade to premium and if i click on either one of them i get a window that reads (unable to connect to the selected provisioning server please try again later) got the same message when i was on .55 os but the upgrade worked when i first did it on .37.

It should still work. It has for me regardless of the SO version.

my current build is running the Applications: 4.5.0.55

Does this version fix the loss of theme settings on reboot/battery pull?
it's the only problem i have with .55 but I might try this new version for my last on a curve. Switching to a Bold.

Upgraded my 8300 with this (.81) this afternoon, and it seems very happy so far. Could be my imagination as well, but this *does* seem more responsive than .69 did. I had been using .69 for a couple of weeks, and especially after installing the latest Viigo beta I found that the Curve was feeling *awfully* slow, even though status checks showed that I had close to 20MB available memory. Now, with .81 running, and all my apps (including Viigo beta) reinstalled, the 8300 feels "snappy" (at least by comparison to its feel on .69), and status is reporting that I have just about 20MB available...

So far, so good...

Upgraded my BB8300 Curve (backup unit) today.
Total Upgrade time was 61 minutes.

Thank you for posting the updated OS links.

How do the ringtones sound? When I first did an upgrade I think it was .42 or something I immediately noticed that when the phone rang the tones sounded much lower than they did with the original operating system. I've seen in other postings that there were complaints of the same thing. Does anyone know if that has been fixed or if there is a workaround to getting them to sound the way they were before upgrading?

Thanks
