That's about what you should expect for a just-released device with no contract.

Huh? How is that relevant to the at&t release of the 8300?

Huh? It's the day after Memorial Day, and would be the first BUSINESS day of the week. Since it's on there BUSINESS site right now, maybe they go for the push! Anyway the devices have nothing to do with the dates, I was just using it as an EXAMPLE!

This makes me believe the June 1st date is a real possibility.

Well, the item has ended with 0 remaining, so I guess they must have sold. As for me, I can wait the week longer I guess.

I'm still in the 'have more time than money' camp.

Same here, definitly looked and sounded like a pre-sale. If they were confimed to be o2 branded, and there were some images in and out of box, I have to say I would have took a bite and purchased. I'd rather wait a Lil longer and know what I'm getting. We'll all have our day in the sun soon!
(I hope real soon)

Ebay's $600-700 would have brought two 8300 from AT & T or any carriers.

These things are probably going to sell for $500 without a contract when they're released in the U.S. officially. And there's a good chance you won't be able to get one without a 2-year contract. So $650 unlocked isn't nearly the premium I would have expected. Perhaps the U.K. release by OČ is keeping it closer to reasonable. Yeah, it's still too much, but I thought it would be even worse.

FWIW, this seller is also selling the 8707v, for almost EXACTLY the same price as the almost-identical 8707g direct and unlocked from RIM.

I emailed the seller to let him know this and got a very abusive reply; I certainly wouldn't give him any of my business...

So, in other words, just more speculation without an official release date?

Which is irrelevant since you can't currently buy from at&t. If you want it before it's releaed you have to pay the premium. If you don't want to pay the premium then you have to wait. It's simply supply and demand. You can't expect subsidized pricing on an a device that hasn't been released by your carrier (or one you intend to switch to).

I asked the seller why he did not post REAL images of his 10 phones if he had them in stock adn ready to ship. He replied and said that he did not have time to take images.

Now thats bullcrap!

If you had 10 unreleased 8300 units would you not get an real image on eBay!

Ha!

Rite on Greg, he definitly didn't have them in his paws! To say the least, we're all better off. AT&T will drop em soon, and we'll have saved a couple of hundred bucks$$$.

No need to shut him down, but everyone here should know that you can get a brand-new 8707g from RIM with a full warranty for about the same price.

As for the abusive email, I thought I was doing him a favour by letting him know his product wasn't competitively priced. The respone I got was:

Huh??? Do you spend your time cruising ebay giving bad advice... You have no idea what you are talking about.

Maybe not so abusive, but certainly not something that would make me want to get my credit card of my wallet...

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7130/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

One of the first 8300's is on my desk & I've had it for three & one half weeks. It's unlocked & from O2. I have a hard time believing the phones just now appeared on eBay. However since it's common knowledge that O2 was the first to be allowed to release the Curve Models, with AT&T the second carrier to be next to release the 8300 exclusively. So the main question I wolf focus on is are these "a little warm?"
