Default OS: 8220 4.6.0.471/4.6.0.278 (East Asia + English)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl Flip (TM) 8220 smartphone from Indosat.
This will load to any carrier's 8220 device by following the directions below.
This OS contains English.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.471 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.6.0.471
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.278
* Software Platform: 4.1.0.98
* File name: 8220EastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel471_PL4.1.0.98_A4.6.0.278 _Indosat.exe
* File size: 85.5MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B53786A2C5FA09

Instructions for installing on ANY 8220(regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Note For Advanced Users Only: If you plan on deleting the cod file for pre-installed media your exterior LCD will not function correctly. This does not pertain to people doing normal installs. You will not be affected.

Thanks!... this is the best OS since .180

Everyone who's experiencing long lags, playback issues, another problem should consider upgrading to this....

So what are the big changes in this update? Is the dreaded key lag still there? Any new problems?

I have not found any bugs regarding this update... There are lags like always has been in this phone but overall I feel it snappier. For me, this update had great changes about Music Playback... It fixes the List shown when on shuffle... and arranges songs like a playlist each time I shuffle.... Also the songs are skipped faster and the Media Refreshing time after you unplug it from the computer its at least 5 times faster (used to take it more than 10 minutes to finish reading my 8GB microSD... now it takes less than 2 minutes)

Since I've installed this update, my external screen still shows the clock and text messages as they arrive as before. However, when I get a phone call, the screen remains black - it does not show me the caller ID information. In all other respects, the update seems to be a step forward. The phone seems responsive and so far, stable.

OK Update... a related question...
/general-8200-series-discussion-kickstart/193658-flip-external-screen.html
suggested a battery pull. This actually appears to have fixed the issue for me.

I have 2 other bugs and I'm not sure where to file them. They are not specific to this OS.

I really like the new threaded view when you are replying to messages. However, it seems to always show the *second* newest message from the sender, skipping the most recent message and your most recent reply.

To elaborate on my previous post... it is when you open the flip phone while receiving notification of a text message that the message opens automatically, and replying then only shows previous messages in thread, not the latest. If you open the phone once the notification has closed, open the latest message and reply, all are shown.

Upgrading from 4.6.0.267

Let's hope to see improvements.

Default Key Lag

This update has no major changes that I've noticed.

However, the key lag when writing messages does seem worse to me. Especially when using symbols. The symbol doesn't appear for a few seconds, and if I keep typing I end up with the wrong letters for some reason. It's very strange, and very annoying.

Other than that, this is a nice release.

Whether it was the upgrade or the process I followed, I had problems. I found that every 50-60 minutes I had a short message saying that there was an err and asking me to restart the phone. I had to restart my phone 6 times in a 6 hour period after the upgrade. I chose to go back to the conservative t-mobile upgrade and am doing the downgrade now.

this operating system doesn't work right. I upgraded and now my cell phone has crashed. I didn't have any problems until I installed this operating system!

I keep getting

JVM Error 545
incompatible or corrupt filesystem
