Options > Advance > TCP (enter details below)

Apn : mobile.o2.co.uk
username : faster
password : password

You will be charged £3 per mb, as this isnt included out of the BB tariff.

Not to jump on what chetzy said but also, you could try:

APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
U/N: mobileweb
P/W: password

There isnt any difference in the connection speed but has know that the "faster" username doesnt always work.

And some tariff dont get charged for Opera use. I never have done, but i understand on newer tariff you would get upto 1mb free...

Default O2 / APN & Data Plan

Hi,

I was given a different username (o2web / password) to use, but I still cant get opera to work.

I suspect that because when I purchased my blackberry, I purchased a BES plan.

I was told that I could use BIS services also, (which is true, because I can use the Internet browser after nuking my device and unregistering from my Trial BES server running on my home PC), BUT I cannot get Opera to work.

In the past I could also connect to the internet using bluetooth via my 8800, but it stopped working a few months ago.

I am now pretty sure that the two events are related.

I finally got my APN problem solved.

As I suspected, it was something to do with my data plan.
I contacted my supplier (A company called Adam Phones, who resell O2 and Vodaphone) and they did some changes to my plan, and now it works fine !!

I was told, that they put me on a new BES (BIS from my point of view) server version (???)

Anyway, I can now see that connections made to my server from my own applications (similar to opera) come from either the Blackberry Infrastructure :-,

c193-201.eu.blackberry.net

or through :-

mobileweb03.london.02.net

So effectively I can use both BIS and APN within the same Application !!!!

For any developers out there reading this, I open http conenctions in my application and

if I specify deviceside=true, then it uses the APN

if I specify deviceside=false;ConnectionType=mds-public, then it used BIS

If I dont specify anything, then it uses BES/MDS, and if not available, it use the APN.
