Default Trackball backlight control?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all, first post so here goes

I've searched around the forums for answers to this question but have found nothing promising so far. Is it possible to turn on the backlight by scrolling the trackball (and not pressing it)? When I had my 8700, the backlight would come on by rolling the wheel and I really miss that feature with the 8310. I've looked into BBlight but scrolling doesn't activate the backlight either. Thanks.

Just turn off "auto dim backlight" under screen/keyboard setting.

But that prevents the backlight from ever turning off - what I think the OP wants is to "wake up" the screen without clicking the trackball.

I've just gotten used to hitting the space key to light the device. Is there a reason you want to use the track ball?

Using the trackball seems more natural to me, just like when I had the wheel, no other reason than that. I am starting to get in the habit of hitting the space key to wake up the device myself, just really wish the programmers would have given a choice of trackball wake up

well if ur bb is not in a holster and in ur pockets...it is easy to wake up on ur bb with trackball vs trackwheel. thus wasting battery life if ur bb wakes up all the time with slight movement in ur pocket. that is my educated guess.

That was actually how the original software on the Pearl worked. When you rolled the ball it would silence the ringer and I believe wake it up (not sure though). Removed from later versions because of obvious reason...
