Default BES and multiple service providers

Please Login to Remove!

We have a BES with just 7 Blackberry users. I set it up a year ago and have left it pretty much alone since then, so my recollection of the setup is a bit vague. But here's the question:

One of our users roams in an area where our current service provider has very sporadic coverage. He wants to switch to a different provider.

I don't think this is a problem, but I want to make sure: Can a single BES server support Blackberry devices from two different providers?

I don't remember the procedure for setting up a new device, so I'm going to need a refresher if & when we switch providers for this user :(

Thanks,

--Doug

Right! This is a question I hear alot with a pretty simple answer, almost deceptively simple...

Here is what you need for BES BlackBerry to work:

1) A device that says "BlackBerry" on it
2) A carrier account provisioned for wireless data with the Enterprise BES plan.
3) A good data network signal.

That's it! If you have those three things you can get it enterprise activated. Most of the problems are related to #2, where the plan is BIS for consumers or the user changed their voice service provisioning and the carrier dropped the BES service by mistake.

Unfortunately this is not going to be true once BlackBerry connect catches on.

To add on to what was mentioned and hopefully help clear things up for you a bit. The BES does not care about carrier. The PIN number of the device is what is important.
