Question Accessing email on Microsoft Exchange

Please Login to Remove!

Is the only way to access emails via Microsoft Exchange to use BES? My work email is accessed via Outlook Web Access (connected to an Exchange 2007 server). Is the only way to access this email account to have BES on the Exchange server?

Depends on how your Exchange Server is configured.
You can try using BIS with OWA, but I do not think RIM has given the stamp of approval on OWA 2007 yet. SOme people have reported it works.

You could also use BIS if your Exchange server supports public IMAP access.

or POP. i found on an exchange 2003 server when using IMAP i would get duplicate messages for some really odd reason. our exchange server is currently hosted so i dont have full access to it but the only reason it should be downloading a second time is if the messageID on the server is changing which their support denied was possible but was the only explanation.

for that reason i did POP.

make sure to use SSL/TLS if possible...

There is also "Outlook Mobile Access", which works on most cell phone web browsers. Not a pretty interface, but works in a pinch. This must be enabled by your Exchange administrator.

BIS and OWA do work and play together. I'm on TMO and have had my work email (MS Exchange 2007) for about 2 months now.

But Penguin3107 is right, RIM hasn't "blessed" it yet.

Go to the TMO BIS website (log into your My T-Mobile.com) and add the account.

If you give your email and password it should work. It might ask for more settings (domain, user name and url - Https://etc.).

You can have your exchange admin forward emails to your bb account. You can't manage the account, but you will receive and can reply to emails when you are out.

I am at a university that used Microsoft Outlook with their server. I also can access mail via Web Access on a desktop/laptop. When I got a BB, I simply set up my mail as I did with Yahoo, and it comes to my BB. I"ve filtered a lot out so I don't get tons of junk. The problem I had was filtering it made me wonder if I still could be missing some mail that I wanted on the BB, and the BB browser would not open OWA mail. But Operamini does. So, I get most of my wanted work Outlook mail sent to my BB as with Yahoo or any other email address, and I can see what was filtered by going on line with Operamini. Hope this helps.
