Is it just me, or is the keypad of the 8300 alot noisier than my previous 8700g? I am talking about the physical noise of the keys itself when u press them down.

If so, is there any way to fix this?

I think it might be since I was on the iphone for so long, I am not used to any noise coming from the device when I sms.

I did not know if I had a defective keypad or not.

As for fixing this, I was thinking along the lines of a thin piece of foam to muffle the sound. The clicking is very noticeable when i am in a meeting and when their is little noise.

I haven't heard of anyone trying a mod like that. I guess the question to look at is what part of the button press is generating the sound and how can that be dampened without interfering with the operation of the keyboard. There's not a lot of extra space in there for foam or other foreign objects.
