Changing Vendor Handheld software
Please Login to Remove!
Hi,
I am currently running an 8310 with 4.2.2.176 from T-Mobile UK I am trying to change the ROM to Vodafone UK 4.2.2.146
I have downloaded the Vodafone ROM from the Blackberry.com site and I have installed it on my machine. I then deleted the Vendor.xml file from program files/common files/Research in Motion/App Loader
I have run the App loader and it asked if I wanted to downgrade the software which I did and instructed it to delete all settings. When the software started up it still loaded as the T-Mobile ROM and not the Vodafone ROM but the handheld code shows as the downgraded one.
I then wiped the device using javaloader but I get the same result. Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks,
Mark L

why did you want to downgrade the OS out of curiousity. The splash screen is hard coded as EZ has said and cannot be changed.

I work for T-Mobile Uk and we are seeing a problem with the 8310 when you do a bettery pull or just a power off and the device comes back on it has the voicemail indicator on the screen but no new message. the only way to get rid of it is to leave yourself a message, listen to it and the delete it.
We have been told this behaviour does not show on Vodafone 8310's so I need to load that software on to test it to see if it is our voicemail system or our version of handheld code causing the problem

To see what version of the OS you are really running, go into Options / About.
As has been stated, you cannot change the startup splash screen.

you have your software downgraded now, that screen you see when it boots up has absolutely no bearing on this.
