I was in Radioshack the other day. They had the Blackjack listed as a BlackBerry device.

I gently corrected the error then communicated clearly just how much of a disappointment to nerd-dom they are.

Those images are supplied; either from RIM or from the company that handles their marketing. Most store circulars are produced entirely by 3rd parties and there are really only a few that can do things on the scale of Radio Shack. RS provides the details and then the layout is done and approved. The people at RS approving the proof aren't the kind that would catch something that subtle.

I've done images for sale circulars like that. One image of the product itself and the background is changed for the retailer's particular needs. Appears that the person that did the image work for RS decided to have a little fun.

Radio Shack is still a joke, but in this case the error was made by a 3rd party.

Actually the image was from them. I am typing a copy of the internal retraction and reasoning they sent out.

Some stores have asked about the screen image used on the Blackberry curve in the Flyer and the Insert.

Because wireless phone screens dont always photograph well, we typically paste an image from that phone onto the screen in our ads. Unfortunately, in these two ads, an image from the Samsung BlackJack was used instead.

The Curve does not use Microsoft Windows Mobile and its actual screens look different than what was show in the ad. The picture of the Curve in this article shows the phone in its GPS mode (insert image from AT&T website showing AT&T Nav)

Out advertising team has taken steps to make sure this is corrected in future ads.
