Default Locking my Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

Normally when I lock my Pearl, I go into the security settings, enable the lock, then choose a password. Rather than having to go through all that, isn"t there a way that I could just enable the lock from the home screen? There is an icon there, but when I use it, it only locks the keyboard, and only takes pressing the # and talk button to unlock it.

Going into the security settings to enable your password lock is only something that needs to be done once... not every time you want to lock the device.

Just set the password and timeout settings, and you're done.
The device will lock itself, or you can manually lock it using the icon on your home screen.

(Hitting myself up side my head with a hammer) The timeout setting. That's where I've been making my mistake. Thanks a lot. You just saved me from a hammer-induced headache.

also you can hold down star, I find that easiest to lock the keypad especially as I don't use a password lock

You can also hold the * button down for 2 seconds on a Suretype device.

Edit: Didn't even read the post right above me. I'm such a noob

Again, Thanks for the advice.
But I do use the password lock always. It's just a precaution in case I lose my Pearl (to date I've never lost anything like that, but I'd rather be assured that if I ever did, my data is protected and would be deleted when the finder tried 5 times to enter the wrong password).

just checked it on my pearl and when password lock is enabled, holding down * for a couple of seconds enables the password screen lock, if you don't have it enable it just enables normal screen lock

A useful shortcut so you don't butt call people
