Has anyone successfully integrated first class and Blackberry without a bes? Any pointers? Thanks

Well, since there isn't a BES for Firstclass, you wouldn't really have that option.

I haven't integrated a Blackberry with Firstclass, although I have used and provided support for several Firstclass environments. Your only options with Firstclass will be to use the Blackberry Web Client and either:
  1. Setup your accounts in Firstclass to forward a copy of each mail message received to each user's <user>@provider.blackberry.net address. You would have to ensure that the policies in the Firstclass system allow forwarding (many administrators turn this feature off).
  2. If POP3 is configured on the Firstclass server, have each user log in to their BWC page (or do it for them), and setup the BWC to poll the POP3 mailboxes for new messages.
With either option, messages are sent/retrieved from the FirstClass system and delivered to the Blackberry in much the same way as any message to <user>@blackberry.net. Replies will normally come from this address, but I believe that most providers also provide the option to set your "From" address in BWC, so you could make mail sent from the Blackberry appear to come from their Firstclass e-mail address.

In either case, messages sent from the Blackberry should be BCC'ed to the Firstclass address if it's important for the user to keep a copy of sent messages.

Note that option 1 (direct forwarding from Firstclass) is probably the better option, since messages should be delivered much more quickly. With option 2, the BWC only polls the POP3 server every 15 minutes, so mail may be delayed.

Keep in mind as well that since messages are only being forwarded to the Blackberry, the existing messages in Firstclass will remain unchanged (meaning that reading and deleting a message on the Blackberry will not affect the original message in the user's Firstclass mailbox). This may be a good or a bad thing, depending on your requirements.

Default FirstClass syncing?

I'm interested in a similar thing... I'm not so concerned about syncing my email but would really be interested in syncing my contacts, to-do's and calendar with a Blackberry. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I haven't purchased a specific Blackberry yet... I'm a die-hard Palm user that is ready to start checking out the competition. I'm mainly a Mac user but will soon be getting a MacBook Pro through work... so I need something that will play nice with both my Mac and my FirstClass system at work.

Thanks for any advice!

The choices for syncing (btw email doesn't sync on any BB) are BES or Desktop Manager -- take your pick.

Actually, for the Mac there's Pocketmac instead of DM.
