I am running BES 4.1.4.12. I want to "plug" the PDF file security hole. Should I install SP 6 to accomplish this? Or can I just install SP 5 Interim Security Update? I'm assuming I should just go all the way and install SP 6. SP 6 is a very large file - it looks like it's going to replace my present BES software. This makes me nervous. My BES is working perfectly. I don't want anything to muck it up!!!

I'm assuming you mean load the SP4 interim update, not the one from SP5. That will certainly fix the issue. If you start getting 4.5 devices though, you might want to consider at least testing it, there are several new 4.5 features that require SP5, and for official HTML support, SP6.

Considering SP6 was released early because of the PDF issue, it's not unreasonable to hold off on putting SP6 on your server.

On the other hand, with backups of the BES database, it doesn't take much to get it back up and running.

honestly, it's not that big a deal to upgrade to SP6. a "big file" is a relative term with this service pack. It does not "replace" the current BES, it updates it like a windows service pack updates windows.

If you want to be "stable" then go with 4.1.5 plus the standalone PDF patch. I'm going to 4.1.6 though - I doubt RIM would have released this if they weren't happy with their own testing.
