Default Upgrade to 4.5 Killed My Curve!

Please Login to Remove!

I tried to upgrade my Device Software to 4.5 using the Desktop Manager, but DM locked up. Now I have a Curve 8310 with an LED that just blinks red twice over and over again. How do I breath life back into my BB? Thanks.

Start here:

How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

And then here:

What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ

Happened to me twice with beta upgrades, but they worked the 2nd time

Blackberrys are like Dracula and the 10th Amendment, i.e., they can return from the dead. LOL. Hope everything turns out a-okay.

They are more like Chucky! Very rarely do they NOT return from the dead.

The process take a while to complete, even it you do not think it is making progress it is best to not even touch the device while plugged into the USB while in this process.

When I upgrade mine, I just leave the room and do something else as you can no longer use your computer anyway while this is going on.

Good luck!

You can use your computer all you want, just not the BB.

Unless your computer is older, maybe not. Otherwise, I surf and handle email, etc., during an upgrade.

I might be wrong but do not see where I can put it in the background.

"Old computer", I think not, dual quad cores are rather zippy! I would rather leave well enough alone while my baby is getting upgraded. Not all of us live on the edge, like you! <vbg>

What version of DM are you using? I know with 4.5 if is not set uo to be "Always on top" so you can do other things.

reinstall a newer version of desktop manager then go to control panel and uninstall 4.5 and install 4.5.0.44. after you do that plug ur bb in and start up desktop manager, it will say disconnected. click on application loader and check the box that says use serial port.(remember to delete vendor.xml) then upgrade and it should bring your curve back to life i fixed many bb like this no need to use jl cmder

dual quad cores (so your running a server? 8 cores? whats your clock speed, im sure your ram is a bottleneck too, it locked up? my single core with 768 RAM doesnt do that) and you dont know how to put a program in the background. Its also called minimize...

I've made themes while my little guy was getting a face lift (using GIMP, Theme Builder, and Photoshop Elements)...my desktop can handle it though

well the kicker is I have both a 2.4Ghz chip and a 2Gb RAM chip just waiting to go, just haven't felt the desire to open the box up. It has many issues, I let it sit in a closet for 3 years and had to live jump the HD just to get it to spin. If you bump the tower too hard the whole thing just freezes. Also, if you unplug let say the speaker system, it freezes. I might just take the good parts I have and build a new one with the new chip and RAM.
