Try rebooting the device by removing the battery and replacing.

Do you have the "BBLight" installed? If so, do have selected the option "Always ON on External Power/Charging"?

Do you have any third party application such as BBLight loaded to the BB, or another application which forces the backlight to remain on, such as a GPS application, etc?

I haven't installed anything on it as I'm a new user, I don't even know how to install any app on my BB, thanks for your time!

Look in Options >Advanced Options >Applications and see if you see an application called BBLight.

Hmm...that's strange. I'm suspicious of the charger. is it cycling power? Is the usb port loose? If the power cycles on and off it would keep the backlight on.

I'll buy the original Blackberry charger, could somebody tell me which model should I buy? (I got a Pearl)
