Default 2 BES on 1 SQL-Server

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Admins,

now I've solved my Problems with the Migration from MSDE to SQL,
here's the next Step I have to do:
Now i have 1 BES 4.0.2.8 with remote SQL2000 DB.
I want to connect a second BES to the same SQL DB.
It's good for Maintenance and Administration, you can move the user's without new activation.
I haven't a Test-System yet, so I hope I get a answer here.
Has anyone experience with this configuration and can give me some advice about?
- use the same DB-Access-Account?
- how to connect without accident?
- the most important thing?

Thanks for the answer....

We use Domino in our company and have 2 servers connected to one SQL server, relatively speaking we can move users between the servers (assuming they have 4.0 firmware) and there's been no problems. Once in a while, someone's service book gets corrupted, but we just manually delete the Desktop (CMIME) one and then click the resend service book button.

I will install a new Server and connect to the SQL-Server during the installation procedure.
The same Service Account and DB-Access Account as the first BES-Server.

to rsun,
have you set the policy:
- allow other e-mail services - true
- allow other browser services - true
its important, when you move a user to the other server, the user get's silent new service-books from the new server.

Two BES servers using the same DB and account won't cause any problems. There's nothing special you need to do as far as I know.

In our Policy we have set allow other e-mail services and allow other browser services. Like I said, it only happens once in a while to a user here and there.

anyone any idea?
move users doesn't work, Message Agent LOG:
-*** OTAKEYGEN *** Queuing Switch Service command to Policy Server
-Conflict resolution set to DESKTOP WINS.
-Switching services - failed
-Failed to correct discrepancies between mailbox and configuration databases - discrepancy type BAD_CACHE

Yesterday i give the logs to 3. level support, waiting for the answer....

Now I've found my failure, when i check all Server Configurations:
Server Properties: Supported Encryption Algorithms" 3DES only (default) instead of Both 3DES & AES :o((
After change no errors, move of users correct, after a few seconds the new servicebooks was delivered to the BB.

That's very strange. I think that you can see that BAD_CACHE message if you move users between a few BES very quickly...

yes, its strange, but when i explore all the logs, i found in the message agent log all what i want in this case. But first i go in a wrong direction. Now it's ok. I've marked 20 users and move without problems in one step. Only the user's, they are not online with the BB, can't get the servicebooks, i send a postcard to them . I test monday about delivery, when they com later online.
