Default Display New Message Indicator

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Would someone mind testing something for me please on a 9000 - its something thats quite small but a big deal for me!

I need to be able to disable the small new message icon on my blackberry so its not shown when new messages arrive. You should be able to do this by going into the mail box and selecting the option to set 'Display new message notification' to no. This however does not work on my 8800.

Would someone mind testing to see if this works on the 9000? I'll upgrade if it does!

You may have guessed I'm trying to make a blackberry doesnt notify me if i have email - i want to check myself! And I dont want to spot a message icon on the home screen when I make a phone call!

Thanks in advance, any other ideas welcome too!

The mail makes the normal alert, and the envelope icon shows but it doesn't have the red star next to it to show that it's new. So no, it doesn't do what you want it to do on a Bold either but somehow this is probably as designed!

Have you considered a little piece of masking tape?

lol. that wouldn't be so bad, my business goes on 24 hours so to get a break i need to not know any emails have come in, and rely on people phoning me if something urgent happens.
I dont want to see an icon saying there are new messages there!
Any other ideas how I can make this happen?
Is theme design perhaps the only way? Are there people you can pay to make custom themes?

Damo,

Why don't you simply turn off the data channel when you want to ignore emails? You will then be left with a phone until you feel like joining up with the electronic soup again.

I WISH the BIS server a a time/day setting in its filters. It makes perfect sense to be able to filter some emails to NOT come through on weekends or after hours!

It really can't be that complicated.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't considered this as I thought I'd lose other functionality. I'll give this a go as at the moment it seems like the simplest solution.
Thanks!
