Default Bold freezes 5 times in 2 weeks?

Please Login to Remove!

I am a first time BB owner and I've had a Bold for about two weeks.

It has frozen up on me about 5 times in this short period of time which has required me to take out and re-install the battery to correct the problem.

My question to all you experienced BB users is, "is this normal or should I insist that Rogers replace my unit becuase its a lemon?"

Good question. I haven't been monitoring that very closely. I'll keep an eye on the 3G icon to see if it comes and goes.

There is no application .242. You must be referring to the release mumber. When ppl on the forums talk about an OS they are referring to the application number. The release number of .147 applications is 268.

When in doubt, always upgrade ;)

Seriously, you never know what bugs are fixed. And if you hit one of those bugs that causes the freeze/reboot then upgrading is the only way you'll overcome the condition.

I have been having some freezing issues also
Upgraded to 167 and seems better but still happens occasionally
After watching it and trying to pinpoint when it happens, I think I have finally discovered the cause. It seems to be related to the holster from what I can see. I have since noticed that when it does this, if I place it back into the holster and take it out again, it works right away

I have done a few searches here for freezing and freezes and this is the closest thread I could find. Kinda surprised there are no more reports of it. Makes me wonder is my phone faulty then rather than this being an issue with the Bold itself??

Anybody else having this issue?

You're not alone. The other day I had about 5 freezes on fw .162 in one day but never in the month of ownership before that - I then upgraded to .167 because I wanted to be sure that was not it.

Now it's stable again, it does make me think that it's a vendor network related issue - not a faulty device, but a faulty network should not cause a device to freeze.

It's almost always the network or how the Bold accesses the network you're in.
