I found sometimes they will hang the first time run unless you connect via WiFi, then it's fine after that.

Excellent, 2.3.2 finally has a Bold style icon so it fits better on the standard scheme. Next they need to do Gmail.....

I have just downloaded the new version of Google Maps onto .167 and it has worked fine for me.

The installation did want a reboot afterwards, and when I launched the application for the first time it did take about 30 seconds to get going... and I could see that there was lots of network access during this time. My data connnection was over wi-fi, so maybe the initial start could have taken a few minutes over a slower non-wifi connection... so maybe it appears to have crashed but it just needs to be allowed to finish doing whatever it is doing!

So far so good!

For what it's worth I am using 2.3.2 with .167 without any issues at all.

The bold comes with blackberry maps...is there alot of advantages to downloading google maps vs just using the blackberry maps it comes with.

Huge! Give Google maps a try! Just browse to www . google.com/glm ,<- ( I had to put a space in the URL to stop it being translated ) from your Blackberry browser.

It is going to use some data of course, so don't do it if you are close to your monthly data limit...
