Hi, on Saturday I bought a Blackberry Curve 8310, and haven't as yet managed to get the desktop manager to find it, so I haven't even got started getting my calendar, contacts etc. on it. I'm running Windows Vista Business, Office 2007, Blackberry desktop manager 4.6 and Blackberry device manager 4.3.1.12 (which for some reason I can't seem to change).

My laptop finds the Blackberry device - no problem, and there is no conflict in my Windows device manager. I've tried installling and uninstalling different versions of desktop manager, thinking that the latest will be the best (?). I am the only user of this laptop, so there are no user priveleges to set.

As you can probably tell I'm completely new to Blackberry, having had an XDA for ages. I'm now getting rather jealous of my husband who bought his iphone at the same time I bought my Blackberry and he's up and running with no problems. I'm also not that techy on the Windows side of things so if I have to ask further questions, please bear with me.

If anyone could help I'd be really grateful.

When you go into options and connection settings. There should be a connection with a drop down. What choices are presented to you? See if there us a USB choice when you connect your bb device via the usb cable to your laptop.

That is selected. However in device manager it comes up as Com3 and I cannot chage it!
