Default GPS Available (and working) with 4.5.0.97

The GPS works with Blackberry maps on my Verizon 8330 with the Beta .97 OS installed. The GPS had shown up as available with previous OS but it would never acquire a satellite. My device is acquiring satellites now in BB Maps -but not in Google maps, and is spot accurate. This is very exciting news -for me at the very least. Is this a known fixed 'issue' from previous OS revisions or is this something that will most likely be 'fixed' (disabled) when the full release version is out? I love to keep up with the latest OS revisions but I'm concerned that if I upgrade to the next available -whenever that may be, that my GPS will again be disabled. Does anyone have any more information on this?
Thanks

im running 4.5.0.77 official VZW release, and it has enabled GPS for bb maps only. The reason GPS didnt work before was because VZW had it disabled. So to answer your question, I would think it will stay enabled in future releases, being im running an official release.

Thanks, I hope it does the new functionality is great -although I guess i need to get a sunction mount to hold the 8330 up in the front window now. it's already slid off my dash on a couple turns. Enabling GPS and free animated messages on the verizon wireless web site -man they're giving everything away now.

It will only work on BBMaps, nothing else. FWIW, VZW plans to unlock the full GPS for their WinMo ap[plication devices. BB devices still get no love from VZW.

This is great news! I have had .77 for a while now, but somehow missed this.

Now that it is unlocked for BB maps someone has to be able to activate it for google maps don't they? Obviously I am not the one, but someone has to be smart enough to do that.

Default Bb8900

Just picked up the BB 8900 - notice a number of problems:

1. Has very poor reception - 2 bars less then my previous BB Peal
2. GPS will not aquire satellite consitantly even with open sky
3. Once it drops in the EDGE signal will not reaquire without hard boot
4. Drops wifi regularly and will not reaquire without hard boot

Replaced the phone - all problems remain consitant.

Anyone experiencing similar issues?

You might want to open a new thread in the 89xx series forum.. This thread about GPS on VZW CDMA devices, you can't really get further off then that

it's not like someone hacked the .77 OS and suddenly enabled GPS for BBMaps. it was a standard feature for the .77 upgrade. all verizon customers are at the mercy of whatever they feel like giving us....hacking GPS simply cannot be done
