Default Swapping between BB's?

Please Login to Remove!

I currently have a Pearl (8100) on T-Mobile using BIS. It's time to upgrade and I'm considering the 8820 because it doesn't have a camera. Can I swap the SIM card between the two and use both depending on my needs? My thought is to backup one phone before switching and then restoring it on the other phone or can I just swap SIM cards?

I'm actually doing that right now. I just got a 8900, so I put my prepaid t-mo sim from my backup phone into my old 8320. Now since I can't use data on prepaid, I just pop in my sim from my 8900 when I need a new app or something downloaded to the 8320.

Simply I mean you're old device will still have all service books and settings so everything should keep on working when you swap back and forth.

So in short yes, though I'm sure if you plan on doing it often, having to continuously swap sims and boot each device will probably get on your nerves.

Of course if you are using your pearl just for the camera, your camera will of course still work even without the sim card installed.

I would think so if you also use desktop manager to swap phones but I am cdma user so don't quote me

You can simply swap the SIM card and use the 2nd BB as a phone only.

To get the data on the 2nd BB you also need to log into your BIS page and enter the PIN and IMEI of the device you want to use. With each switch you need to re-enter the PIN/IMEI info for the BB you're going to use. The Switch Device Wizard in Desktop Manager might do this for you, but I'm not sure.
