What would you consider to be the best operating system for the 8310

Going to upgrade not sure what one to start with

There's no "BEST". Use the latest release (as indicated above) and you will be fine.

There are threads in the 8300 on EACH of the many flavors of 4.5, look through them for many opinions on each...

Not true at all. I second using whatever's in the Latest OS thread for your model. If you want to determine the "best" then go through each of the threads for the former releases and read up and decide for yourself. Most of us don't load each and every single release to compare. I've only used a few different ones myself. Whatever I currently have (whatever was in the Latest OS thread for my model at the time I upgraded) is what I'd consider the "best" for the moment.
