I like my electronics with the highest brightness setting possible. It bothers me that even though I have "automatically dim backlight" off, it still does it. It was doing this when I first got it, and turning that off worked, but now it doesn't seem to work anymore. I tried redoing the setting, but still nothing. I can lock the phone then unlock it, and it will work. But then it dims again, and I'd rather not have to keep locking aand unlocking it to make it go back top max brightness. =/

Try a reset or battery pull.

Hello, everybody.

This my first post. This is not a reply but another user with the same problem. My Curve is an 8330 and I just got it exactly 1 month ago. When I got it, it had the 4.3 on it, but I put the 4.5 after a week or two. I also have this random dimming problem and I don't like it. I don't think a battery pull will permanently solve this, I'm hoping someone will post a better solution.

Eddie

Nothing you can do about it. It's a bug that's been around since the first 4.5 release.

This is not just a bug since the 4.5 release. I've had my 8330 since last July. It came with 4.3 on it and I've been running 4.5 since it came out from Sprint. There has been no change in the auto dimming even though the option is disabled.

I've noticed the same, although...

Is auto-brighten something that the phone does regardless? Because I don't notice mine dimming lower than I have it set (only 30%, so I might not notice anyway), but I do notice it brighten on me when I'm out in the sun, etc.

Is that a separate thing, or should it also be handled by auto-dim?
