Help with BBThumbs.dat format

Is anyone here familiar with the format and content of these files? I would like to be able to generate them myself.
Every time I change the content of my music files, the BlackBerry Media app wants to rescan my card to index the music. It takes forever, I hate that. I can't just drag files over and hit the street, I have to wait several minutes until the stupid thing is done. I can't even check my mail, that process slows the whole phone down considerably.
RIM is obviously too busy competing with the iPhone on the only things the iPhone does well: touch screen and eyecandy. Just look at the OS leaks over the last few months, lots of things that could have been fixed or improved have been ignored except cosmetic things. There are rumors a new BB browser is in the works. Another defensive move against the iPhone. RIM isn't going to improve the Media app in the next few years except maybe change its visual appearance.
I want to make a desktop application that will scan my card (or one given folder) and generate the BBThumbs.dat files itself a lot faster, so that I can hopefully insert the card back into the phone and the Media app will leave it alone because the BBThumbs.dat files are all there and updated already. I can do every single aspect of such program except writing those BBThumbs.dat files. Can anyone help me with that?
TIA
