Default 8900

Please Login to Remove!

I am planning to buy blackberry 8900. I want to use BES email from my company and MS office communicator (Instant messaging).

My company does not officially support 8900 but they do 8100.

I am wondering if I get 8900, will it still work or BES checks for what model blackberry it is pushing the email to.

For registration they ask for the IMEI number which I think I can get from 8900.

thanks

Welcome to the forums.

Before you make a purchase, you should verify with your employer that they allow personal devices on their BES.

Having said that, the BES will push email out to the 8900 as long as it is provisioned properly.

Yes, they actually required employees to buy their own device and register with the IMEI number

BES doesn't care what model device you use. If the company allows it, the 8900 should work just fine.

I have a the BB Curve 8320, which is my work device on BES. My 8900 is my personal with a T-Mobile BB Plan. I just added my work email to my device when I was out of town and it pushed my email with no problem, that is more like forwarding your email than being part of the Enterprise though. I agree with rambo47 and jsconyers the 8900 will work fine. However, when subjecting your personal device to your company's network, you are giving up your rights to own any personal data on your device to your employer. As an employer they can take ownership of any data on their network. Just to keep everyone honest, I would have a second phone for personal use, especially if you plan to use your 8900 as a tax right off. Just a suggestion.
