My buddy took the plunge and got a Bold from Rogers, same as I did, but his came with a rubberized outer protection housing in the box. Mine never came with one..

to be honest I am not sure how that ended up in the box, but that is a big mistake. They are supposed to come with leather case/pouch. Your friend got lucky!

I can only assume that it was a returned device (within that 30 day trial period) and someone had bought the skin for it and put it in the box by mistake, and it wasnt discovered by the guys when it was returned.

Maybe! That may have happened. However it was most likley a return within 2 days. Any longer then 2 days and the phone is sent back to RIM for wipe and repacking. It must have been a quick buy/return and maybe left his skin in box or something.

well i said within the 30 day trial period as in not returned as faulty after that and its a refurb.
