Default Removing Security Policies

Please Login to Remove!

I am no longer on a Corp BES and would like to remove the security policies related to password lock, firewall restrictions and any other (content protection) policies. I understand the "wipe handset" will not remove these BES related policies. What do I need to do so my Storm is no longer restricted? I am operating VZW.148 OS and have lots of apps that I would like to continue to use following the removal of BES policies.

Download JL_cmder, install and run it. Use the 'Reset To Factory' option.
Backup your device first, because your data will be wiped and you'll need to reinstall your apps as well.

To backup your apps, follow these steps:

Or you could just backup the device, and wipe it via the security menu.

That will NOT remove the IT policy.

No, it didn't.
There's no possible way that doing a security wipe from the handheld removed the IT Policy.

Resolution
To overwrite the IT policy, perform either a security wipe on the BlackBerry smartphone or re-install the BlackBerry Device Software.

Complete the following steps to perform a security wipe on the BlackBerry smartphone.

Warning: The following procedures will delete either all data, or all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone. Back up the data prior to performing the procedure. For instructions, see KB12487.

On the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options > Security Options > General Settings.
Open the menu and select Wipe Handheld.
Click Continue.
Type blackberry, and then press Enter. Note: If you have turned on content protection, the process for deleting all the data on the BlackBerry smartphone can take up to an hour to complete. Do not remove the battery from the BlackBerry smartphone while data is being deleted.

You're misunderstanding that document.
The security wipe doesn't remove the IT Policy. It merely prepares the device to accept a new IT Policy sent from BES, thus overwriting the policy that is already on the device..

As Penguin pointed out, the keyword is overwrite, not remove. The OP is looking to remove the IT policy. Penguin posted the correct way to do that in his initial reply.

The only way to REMOVE an IT Policy is to either use the ResetToFactory option or use the process published here on BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ

What do you guys think about this procedure, will it work?

How to Disable Password on BlackBerry Cell Phones

Please note that in the following instructions BB refers to BlackBerry.

Note: This article referes to Passwords placed on Blackberry mobile phones to stop unauthorized access. This article will NOT allow you to sim unlock your phone to be used with any simcard/provider, to do so you must unlock your Blackberry using a Blackberry sim unlock service .
Like many others you have a Blackberry that is locked by a BES, meaning you're unable to change certain settings, or install Third Party Applications then read on. Essentially, the problem is that your Blackberry has at some point been connected to a BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server), and this BES has placed a restrictive Security Policy (or IT Policy) on your device. A quick check to see if this is the case can be done by going to Options/Security on your Device. If you see any references to IT Policy whatsoever, then you have a potentially restrictive IT Policy that can be removed.
The Disclaimer/Intended Use.
This guide is intended for use by people that own their own Blackberry, and for whatever reason, have inherited a company's IT Policy on their Device. Really, there are two scenarios where this guide is useful.

Unable to make changes to the settings or install Third Party Applications. This includes attempting to unlock your phone using our unlock software and keep recieving "Cannot connect to phone" error.
You have a Blackberry that was previously connected to a company's BES and, for whatever reason; you no longer intend to make connections to that BES.
If you're still connected to a Company BES, and simply want to install the latest and greatest Third Party Application I wouldn't recommend this approach. Go talk to your administrators and ask them to grant you the appropriate rights. There are two problems in using this guide to bypass your Company's Security Policy. Firstly, whenever you reconnect to the Company Server, your security settings will revert back to how they were. Secondly, and (perhaps) more importantly, you run the risk of getting fired.

Procedure
Step 1 Ensure the Blackberry Desktop Manager is installed using Blackberry Internet Service, and not Blackberry Enterprise Server. If you are unsure, it would probably be a good idea to uninstall the Desktop Manager and start again.

If you don't have the CD that came with your Blackberry, the Software can be downloaded here.

Step 2 Download the file policy.bin and save it in your Blackberry installation directory (C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry).
Step 3 Wipe your Blackberry, creating a backup if necessary. Select Options/Security/Wipe on the Device.

If this option is unavailable, you may have to install the latest software on your Blackberry. You need to Download and install the latest Desktop Manger Software, then the latest Handheld Software. Connect your device, open the Desktop Manager, select Application Loader, and follow the prompts.

Step 4 Close the Desktop Manager if it is open.
Step 5 From the Windows Start Menu select Run..., and at the prompt type regedit. In the tree on the left hand side, navigate to:

HKEY_Current_Users\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\PolicyManager

Right-Click the Policy Manager Folder and select New/String Value. Name the value Path. Now, Double-Click the Path Subkey and set Value Data to:

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\policy.bin
Step 6 Open the Desktop Manager.
Step 7 Connect the Device.

Verification
Once complete, the Options/Security screen on your Blackberry should not contain references to an IT Policy, you should now be able to change all settings (including password prompts), and install Third Party Applications

When you have corporate email better know as an exchange server. They lock your phone down. Things like you need a password to access your phone and so on. So if your phone is no longer on that exchange (corporate e-mail) you have to restart your phone to remove all the restriction they added.

HELP. I just got a new replacement storm. I connected it to my desktop at work, by mistake when it said you have XXXX pin bb setup do you want to use xxxx (new bb) instead. I hit yes. HUGE mistake, my old bb settings which are IT protected transferred to my new bb which is a personal cell and now no matter what I do I can't get it wiped out to start over. I have tried the jl_cmder thing, doesn't work, I tried the command prompt app loader nothing, I tried the policy.bin instructions, nothing. the new storm 5.0 doesn't have options, security, password, wipe handheld. etc. it now says "security wipe" and I've done it at least 10 times and all these other ways too andnothing. it wipes out applications and my email but it doesn't wipe the os off so I can start new. it goes straight to demanding a password and when i check password is enabled and locked, encryption, everything is enabled and locked, and of course it won't let me into certain things on internet. HELP please. I've been at this for at least 10 hours.
