Default Technical question re. installed apps

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

Well, I am having about 50 apps (all pretty much standard, Handango/mobihand/appworld bought and downloaded) running on my 8900. Recently, when I tried to add certain apps, or upgrade (Viigo in particular), the app would not run, cause numerous errors (can't remember most of them that displayed, but, mostly "can't find" or "not allow" errors), and, in the case of Viigo, upgrading to the latest bricked my OS several times. As well, when going to "options" advanced" and "applications" to delete, the building of the apps would stall at a certain percentage (probably at the rogue app), unless I went to its icon, and deleted it.

Now, I always backup my apps to my laptop (using the switch device, and moving the app directory hack), and, when I install a new OS, I restore the 50 apps.

I realize one way to isolate the problem app, is to reinstall the apps from scratch, downloading one at a time - a very tedious task.

So, my question is, from a technical point of view, is there ANY difference, in file structure/movement on apps, in restoring it from the backup, or redownloading from scratch onto a new OS?

Wirelessly posted (8820)

Don't know if this applies to you or not, but I saw a tip on viigo for those downloading the new version from appworld. The tip was a warning to uninstall the old version first.

I don't know the answer to your question ending your post.

Yes, I did uninstall first. I even installed it as a first app on a fresh OS install, then put in the other apps, and, it still did not work. It is either soe conflicting combo of apps, or, by restoring from backed up apps, causes some conflicting memory issues.

Which is why I'd love to get feedback about the quesiton in my first post....
