Default OS: 8120 4.5.0.255/4.5.0.162 (EastAsia + English)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.255 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.5.0.255
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.162
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.103
* File name: 8120EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel255_PL2.7.0.103_A4.5.0.16 2_Vodafone_Essar_Limited.exe
* File size: 94.13MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...356FCC56D801D1

This download is from Vodafone Essar Limited but will work on ANY carrier's 8120 model BB. (Not 8100, 8110 or 8130)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS version here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...a-english.html

Installed fine. Still no-go with youtube when on UMA (never tried on EDGE). VuClip still works though. Will report back if I see any other bugs/fixes.

Installed just fine. Memory is great, it's never been so high.

Then I found out why. It restarts every hour or so.

I am new to this whole BB thing, came from Nokia´s Symbian world.

I aupdated from 4.3.something to this release and I agree, it does restart like once a day minimum. I also noticed that it disconnects from Wifi easier. With the old 4.3 release I spent nearly a whole day chatting through Palringo using Wifi and it never missed a beat. Now I'm better off using GPRS as the Wifi disconnects all the time.

So, which release is recommended?

No problems here but I really see no difference from 124. Still lose the cursor sometimes when going back in browser history and youtube still doesn't work on wifi.

Mine restarts also on me, my other version was stable till I did the upgrade. I only wanted to upgrade so that I could get the leaked blackberry messenger 5.

Wirelessly posted

Mine hasn't been restarting as much lately, maybe it's gone away. Either way I am still hoping a new version comes out soon
