Was anyone else forced to buy a case & screen protector from Verizon?
The guy who sold me mine said it would only be sold in a bundle.

Here is how it works. If you go into a company-owned Verizon store they will offer you stuff but do not force you to buy accessories. If you go into a FRANCHISE type store they often "blackmail" customers into buying stuff they don't want or they won't sell you the phone. Happened to me some time ago when i went into a non-company owned store to buy a Storm. I walked out and never bought a Storm from anyone!

I've never heard of such a thing, "forcing" a customer to buy a bundle of stuff. If it's included in the package, that's one thing. But putting it together in the store and forcing accessories on you? That's low.

Bought mine this morning. Forcing me to buy the case and screeen protector wasn't an issue as it was thrown in on the deal for no charge. So far I like it. Still discovering though. -- Coyot21

Lol... The tour comes with a case, so they can save there breath on that one. And as for the screen protector, I would only put a screen on touch phone, like my iPhone, so all in all, they can save there breath on the whole idea.

I purchased mine, came with a case and I have never had a problem in the store I go to with them forcing me to buy anything. Sometime you get pushy sales people, then I just causes a scene and they move on. LOL.

My CSR simply said "Do you need any accessories?", to which I said "no".
As for protection, I have tried everything it seems. Rubber Skins. Invisible Shield. IMHO, all crap. I had an Otterbox case, but it was so bulky I hated it. If I was going to be where it would be in danger all the time, I would force myself to get used to it.
I simply use the Blackberry OEM stuff. A belt clip when I am at work and I grew fond of the Curve sleeve away from work. (Using that now until RIM puts toys online that I am sure will fit). If you put the device back in the holster/sleeve when you're done, it stays nice. My Curve was a year old (got it new when it first came out) and is pretty much perfect except for the battery door from laying it on my desk at work.
This battery door will hold up famously to the desk with the new design (I think)

I checked otterbox and they showed the case being back ordered. Now today when I did a search, it comes back no item found.

Update, I did a google search and found this link. Looks like they don't have the case yet.

Thats weird cuz when i went online on Sunday they showed it as back order but now it cant be found. im sure its only a matter of time before they have it the phone did just get released.
As far as the bulkiness i do agree it can be a drag. i got used to it and im still debating what im gunna do for my tour since its fatter then the 8830 as it is. will see....

My VZW store knows me, they won't try a force anything on me ... They are actually pretty with talking about products.. Of course they typically ask me questions about the BlackBerry when I'm there lol

They can't force you to buy anything and everything comes with a 30 day return policy so if you did buy those things then just return them today.

I am going to say something that bothers people - Don't buy phones from any place other than real company stores. If you compare the deal you can get from a real AT&T store vs. an "authorized AT&T" store, you will see that the death star gives better deals than their "authorized" retailers. This is screwing the "authorized AT&T" stores, but they do it. I would bet that Verizon does the same thing.
Example: We get an AT&T discount on accessories through work. The "authorized" dealer will not/can not honor it, because they lose money. The company store did. Also, I got a car charger and a case for free from the AT&T store, and the "authorized" store would only sell the items separately.
I am not knocking the "authorized" stores - I know they are just trying to make money, but they cannot compete with the company stores. I think if you compare the deals that you can get, and ask them you will find this to be true.
I am sure this will anger some people, but somebody needs to tell me that this is not true, because that is what I have discovered first hand.

Yes, it comes with this case.
Here are the 2 cases I could choose from in the case/screen protector bundle: - Silicone Cover
- Case
And here's the screen protector.
