Question Getting "FF Device Reported a general failure installing the module" msg in POLC log

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I am trying to push an application from BES to BB device.
BES -- 4.1.3
BB device -- 8900

First time when I am trying to push the application from BES, everything works fine and application is pushed to device.
Next, I applied configuration from BES to delete the application. Application is deleted from the device.

But, when I am trying to push the application again to same device after say 1 hour, application is not pushed from the BES and I am getting following thing in POLC log.

[20000] (08/04 05:43:52.159):{0x1AF0} {PIN=AAAAAAAA, UserId=14}RequestHandler::HandleAPPDDataCommand - Send Application to device failed for entryid 691, "FF Device Reported a general failure installing the module".

I searched about this on forums, but not got any solution on it.

But, when I removed the queued entries from ITAdminQueue table using following query, then everything works fine.

DELETE FROM ITAdminQueue WHERE StatusMessage LIKE 'FF Device Reported a general failure installing the module'

Any idea what may be going wrong here?
As, I can pushed the app successfully first time, but every time when I try to push it again by deleting first one it give me ablove error.

Thanks and appreciate your response,
Hemant

Hemant - please make sure your stipulate that you're using BES for MDS ... just so people don't get confused.

When you delete the app and check back on the BES ... before pushing the app again does the app show as still installed on the HH?

I will keep this thing in mind.

Anyway, I checked on the BES after deleting the application. I can't see the app in Application/Modules option on BES. So i believe it gets deleted from BES and BB device also.

I also gone through this KB article.

I checked for workaround suggested in KB, right now I don't have different versions of my application. So, there is only one folder with single version and software configuration. So, each time I am pushing the same application(version) to device.

Any suggestions?

Thanks and appreciate your response,
Hemant

what happens if you create a new application share and setup the application in that new share ... and then assign that new software configuration to the user?

Question

Can you please clarify a bit more on it.

Right now my application share is at this path
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Applications

Inside Application folder I have created a folder with application name say ABC and there I copied the ABC.alx and ABC.cod of my application. Then, I ran the Loader command which generated PkgDBCache.xml and specification.pkg files in ABC folder.

What exactly you want me to do?
If I create the application shared at different location, then how will loader access that application.

please elaborate further.

Thanks,
Hemant

copy the Research In Motion directory and everything in it, created a new shared folder such as \\servername\appshare2

... it'll work just the same as the folder you have.
