Default hooking into a wireless network, abroad.

Please Login to Remove!

hello,

i'm trying to connect my bb to a wireless network abroad, and can't do it...

i think it's a wi-fi type 'hotspot'. the bb recognizes it, and even notifies me it's connected.. i've switched data service off, so it won't pushmail too much, and only trough wi-fi, but i can't browse - "data service is off."..

i'm in front of the computer with the mobile, so if anyone can help me live, that could be great

thanks

You turned off data services, and you're wondering why you're getting a "data service is off" message in your browser?

Here's what I did to get my BlackBerry Bold 9000 to use only Wi-Fi without incurring any roaming charges while I was using it internationally / abroad / in Europe.

Open up the "Manage Connections" then select "Turn All Connections Off" when they are all off, select Wi-Fi to enable it.

From the same Manage Connections window, select "Mobile Network Options"

Make sure that the Data Services is set to On and Mobile Netowrk should be set to * None *

Save that then get back to the home screen and go to Options -> Advanced Options -> GPS

Turn GPS Services to Location Off and Location Aiding to Disabled

Setup the device browser: Browser Menu -> Options -> Browser Configuration -> General Properties
Set the Default Browser to Hotspot Browser

Well folks, that should do it!

Hope this helps.
