Default Please help! been ripped off with 8310

Please Login to Remove!

Hi ,
any advice would be great. I bought an 8310 in the us 2 weeks ago. it worked fine over there, tested with my sim card before we left cause I knew wouldnt be able to take it back. i bought it in a mall. since getting home it turns on and everything but when you try to make calls etc it says authorization failure. A few people have had a look at it, someone said it was part of a so#tolen consignment. T mobile said its not stolen but loaded with american software so it wont work over here. Ive had it unlocked and it now says GPRS t mobile uk but still authorization failure. ive follwed threads and allowed caller identity. Will it ever work?? Will wiping and loading the new OS work/ please help I spent £300 on the thing

If you spent £300 on it, that's about $500! Way too much for an 8310, even if it were already unlocked.

Wirelessly posted

If you haven't already figured it out, a "Battery Pull" is exactly what it sounds like... While the device is POWERED ON, simple open the phone and remove the battery. Wait 30 seconds and replace the battery. It doesn't fix everything, but this is basically a hard reboot and is a good thing to try when you first notice any problematic behavior with the phone.

Good luck!

Do this to check if it is unlocked:
How do I determine if my BlackBerry is "unlocked"? - BlackBerryFAQ

Seems like it would be if your sim card worked while in the US.

Also check Smat Dialing. Hit the green phone key > BB Options Key > Options > Smart Dialing
Change the Country Code, and national number length if needed. I believe Country Code is the setting that is causing the problem.

A battery pull is just that. You pull the battery out while the device is still on. It's like a reboot and fixes a lot of problems. Unlike a computer, it's ok to pull the battery while it's running.
