Talking Switching from 8320 to 8900

Please Login to Remove!

Well I'm going to make the big switch from the 8320 to the 8900. I'm just wondering what I can expect in the differences such as better reception? Better wifi? I hear the 8900 is quicker what other improvements can I expect?

I had an 8320 v4.5.0.81 on T-Mobile, which I upgraded to an 8900 v4.6.1.231.

Reception appears the same (same dead spots on both), but fewer dropped calls due to EDGE/WiFi transition, although they still occur.

For me, the screen is much better, and it's great to not have to worry about running out of on-board memory. The built-in GPS is a lot more convenient than the bluetooth puck I was using on the 8320. Also, the camera has a nice auto-focus feature.

Hope this was helpful.

It's faster in almost every area. The screen is the biggest diff, and the free memory. I carry around 10-15 free themes and a bunch of apps all the time and still have 85mb free.

It's a lot faster all the time, browsing too. The screen is a lot better. I carry a bunch of apps and 10-15 free themes and have 85-100 mb memory free. The camera rocks too. you'll like it way better. The 8320 was a good phone though, my wife still has hers and she's good with it. Sorry for the double post, didn't think the first one took.

i went from 8320 to 8900 also...

pros
- beautiful screen
- gps
- thinner
- better os
- more memory
- better camera
- no dust under screen issue (or camera)

cons
- call reception is definitely worse for me (i have new dead spots)
- keyboard doesn't feel as solid especially the back and blackberry buttons
- really crappy battery life

I'm a former 8320 holder myself. I'll have to agree with previous posters remarks plus the following:
The only downside I have found on the 8900 is the external speaker/phone. Found that it sounds a lot better on the 8320.

8900 is better in all aspects. just make sure you upgrade the OS to at least .231 or .250 to increase the battery life

i've got .231 and the battery life still sucks... i'd have to guess that it's 75% of 8320's battery life... that's ok tho... i've got chargers at work, home and in the car, so no worries...

now if i could just get reception that equaled my 8320 (which sucked as well), then the 8900 would be a true upgrade...

RIM just gave my work 6 free 8900's but I've already got an 8320 so I'm not sure if I'll get one.

Although there's probably some minor cons compared to the 8320, it's just faster, newer.. guaranteed to get OS 5.

We got 6 free Bold's as well but I personally find the bold too chunky, and the 8900 has a better screen compared to it.

The 8900 is superior in every respect. The speed alone is worth the switch. The 8900 form factor is simply the best IMO. I think this BB does everything VERY well. Even the 3.2 MP camera is very good.
