Default 1GB MicroSD Card in 8820

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,
I find problems when I want to insert external storage to 8820. it is said in the specs that 8820 is compatible with MicroSDHC card and maximum capacity allowed is 2GB. But as far as I am searching at electronics stores, there are no MicroSDHC cards for capacity below 4GB.

My questions are:
1. Can 8820 just use the 1GB MicroSD card? I don't need that much storage actually.
2. When I insert an 1GB MicroSD Card, it is said that "The media card can not be formatted", eventhough I have formatted it from the device. Why is that?
3. My software version is 4.5.0.37, do I need version upgraded so that these problems solved?
4. I heard that all new applications installed in BB device will be located at internal memory, is that true? can we install it in media card? since 8820 only has 64MB internal memory. Do you guys have tips for this?

Thanks in advance guys, i really appreciate it..

Wirelessly posted (8700g 2007-04-07)

I called AT&T Customer service today as I stood in WalMart looking a pony 1g for $11.88 and a 4g! At $14.88 the tech looked up the specs and told me that the 8820 will hold up to 18g so I bought the 4g and when I rebooted the sd card indecater registered almost all of the full 4g (3.771 or something like that)

I run a 16 GB in my 8820 and it works just fine... check out your BB OS though... you need one of the latest to use the 16 GB. Applications are always stored on your device, only music, docs, photos, movies, etc will go on your memory card.

Default how do you use the card?

Ok now I have 4g of space how do I access it on the phone? I want to transfer pictures unused ringtones etc over to the sd. How do you do that? Iknow it has to be a simple action maybe I just not pushing the right buttons. If I put the ringtones over there(sd card) how do you transfer them back? Can I do this on the phone or do I have to use the desktop manager. Also windows media player wants to sync my music over to the card is that action ok or do the files have to be sent through the desktop manager also. I have a song on the phone that I would like to transfer maybe make it a ringtone but can't seem to move it. Thanks for the help.

I have tried to plug the media card to another blackberry device with higher model and OS version and the condition is the same, it can not be formatted through the device. I guess I will try to format it from a PC or contact the supplier.

Thanks anyway.
