Saying one is better than another is really up to you and how you use it.

AFAIK, you cannot by a BB without a contract these days. I think both Verizon and Sprint require it. Best place would be to find someone selling one. Check out our Buy/Sell/Trade section.

ok well Storm 1 is a little different from the Storm 2, but nothing major in my opinion . you also need to ask yourself what are you going to be using it for. some people say you cant use it if you don't have a BB data plan that is incorrect. my brother inlaw has a bold and his company does not have a blackberry data plan but is able to go online and surf the web on his bold and log into his email accounts, and there are some 3rd party software that will let you view your emails on your blackberry. as text and email and business device it is perfect. i own many phones but i am always on a blackberry to matter what. the bold is nice if your not used to typing on s touch screen. typing on the storm will take a week or two then its easy.
