Default Unable to provision BB Storm 9500

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
my carrier is unable to provision my BB Storm, the SIM was locked to Vodafone but has been unlocked; reception shows 3G, BB logo not showing. I am not sure if there is a hardware issue somewhere, but here is what I have tried so far:

OS: Tried v4.0.7.78,141, 173 and latest v5.0.0.216

placed SIM in a colleague's Storm and phone immediately registered on network and provisioned, etc.

copied my colleagues service books entries to my storm but that did not help

I read on the net that if the PIN is not released that could also be an issue, however, I have no idea if that is the case or not; furthermore, the phone was new and i am using it on MTN in Ghana W/africa.

I can have the phone replaced but was hoping I could get help fixing whatever configuration issue is bothering it.

Thank you very much.

If you are showing a 3G network indicator, you should be great.

Are you not getting data, the browser, or what?

Have you tried setting up your email to the device?

Then you will need to follow the instructions you'll find at the top of the storm 95xx section to get the device working on MTN.

The only difference is that you'll need the MTN generic service books.

I did as you suggested but had a couple of hiccups.

1. since there is no website or link for MTN to send me generic service books, what I did was to copy the service books from a working BB Storm, after I had put my SIM in. I used DM to backup and restore the service books to my Storm.
2. as I said there is no link to send service books, so i could not complete step 7.

APN settings are still blank, should I enter them manually, ie. copy them off a working Storm?

after following the other instructions, the phone still did not provision. changed network mode to 2G, but edge/gprs remain in small letters despite switching the network off several times as suggested.

< i'm having the same problem. I live in Ivory Coast and have a Verizon BB 9500. I have a MTN BB chip but I'm so frustrated that my phone doesn't fullywork .
Would you mind uploading the MTN service books?

Sure, i have attached them here.

Further research I have done makes me believe that I have a pre-release phone with a disabled PIN, thus I am just going to wait for my vendor to replace the phone (I am pretty sure I have tried everything that can be tried but couldn't get it working). On the plus side, I know the Storm inside out, by no means an expert though.
