Last Thursday I traded up my BB8350i and went with the BB Tour. I loved the 8350i, great phone except for the very slow internet on it that drove me nuts.
So now I have a Tour and I am in the process of entering in all my custom ring tones, videos, sound effects and getting blurry eyed with all of the menus you have to go through and choices to set this up. This leads me to my question;
Is there a program that will allow you to use your computer in either tethered mode or non tethered mode that will all you to program everything one needs to set up such as special ring tones for a phone book entry and or creating custom profiles? Once everthing is setup you can upload the config file to your BB model and be done. The advantage here is that you set up the config in a nice GUI using your normal keyboard and big PC monitor.
Yes, it's called the Switch Device Wizard, found within the BlackBerry Desktop Manager program on your computer. When you get a new device, you connect both to your PC via USB, start the Switch Device Wizard, tell it which device you're going from and to (by PIN#), and it moves everything over - including 3rd party applications.
Or did I not understand your question....?

No, I meant a program that will allow you to set up the phone if say you have new ring tones that you want to say assign to different people. Instead of doing the programing in the actual phone, you do it on your pc then upload that info into your phone.
Kinda like a police scanner, you have the GUI interface, you enter in all the frequencies you want to scan into the banks that you want to scan and so forth, then upload that info into the scanner. Its faster than having to do all the entering at the scanner itself.
No, those settings are accessible only on the BlackBerry itself. Once you have them, as others have said the settings will be preserved and copied over through the Switch Devices Wizard. But the initial settings must be made on the BB.
