Default Water!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello!
Something really stupid happened to my Blackberry Bold. I spilled tea over it but could save it from drown completely

Just one perhaps strange question. After I dried everything (it still works fine!) there was one little about 2mm x 1mm big piece that was hanging loose on one side of the battery. It is red but the color was dripping.
I have no idea what it is but I guess it was in a square cavity at the side of the battery?
It's just strange that the color is not waterproof?
If you can enlighten me, I would look forward to that.
Thanks alot!

Its a WATER INDICATOR.
It shows that it has been damaged by water.
i.e. insurance or warrenty now know its damaged by water and won't replace it.

And if you didn't allow it to dry properly, it might look and feel dry, but it may not last much longer.

What did you do?

Thank you very much!
It was an accident and I stupidly spilled nearly a whole cup of tea over my blackberry.
I let it dry over night and today for some more hours. Hopefully it will keep on working.

You should have disassembled the phone (back cover, battery, sd card/sim card) put it in a bag of rice and left it for a week.

I accidentally went for swimming twice, the longest being about 40 mintues, with my Bold, by the time i realized I had it in my pocket, i took it out and it was still functional and recieving messages!! I immediately took out the battery, put it on the top of the canopy of the boat and let it sit in the sun all day. It's been working like charm ever since, that was about 5 or 6 months ago. Hope it will last long still. I took it apart a couple months ago to put in a new blue trackball, and everything looked good inside.

Sarosh, that is good news.

I once did the same, but only for about 30 seconds and in the salt water of the Gulf of Mexico. My results were not as fortunate, due mainly to the corrosive salts/minerals which remained on the circuit board after drying.

Same type of thing happend to me, all I did though was keep rubbing on the RED WATER INDICATOR until the thing came off. Glued another white strip that looks somewhat like the real deal. If i bring it to a Rogers store or soomething I doubt the repair guy would notice unless hes really anal like that...Thinking about it, if i saw the white paper peice still intact I wouldnt look any deeper into it in terms of water damage, it might be something that gets looked past and they may never know. They might figure it out but meh, its worth a try i guess..

Lol, probably is illegal. If you get caught in the moment just say that how you bought the phone online. And pretend your as shocked and blown away by it as the repair guy would be... Lol.

Insurance fraud. Now that's some solid advice right there. Afterwards we can all ride our skateboards and go steal a couple of 6packs from the corner shop. Oh, the humanity..
